Simon has been with functional programming through the good and bad times since the 1980s and it's great to see all the buzz around Erlang and other languages at the moment. His main focus at the moment is working with Huiqing Li on building tool support to help with code transformations: refactorings, code migration, API upgrade and so on. But he also teaches and they're teaching Erlang to students at Kent for the first time this year - great fun - and have written books on Erlang, Haskell and type theory (also coming into fashion at long last!)
